I have this thing for tiles, pretty doors, houses that look like they’re being swallowed alive by foliage, and statement walls, yep, I’m an Instagram cliche. In Notting Hill, you generally find all of the above and more, especially when it comes to a statement wall, and you know, I couldn’t resist this turquoise beauty as the location for this week’s style post. The thing I find the hardest when it comes to these weekly style shoots, isn’t the posing, I think I’m so used to being awkward that I’ve accepted it, and it definitely isn’t finding an outfit that I love, my wardrobe is overflowing, but it’s scouting the perfect location to make the outfit pop, and I don’t think I could have picked a better spot.
Notting Hill is one of those parts of London I don’t get to hang out in enough, but it was so nice last week to catch up with my friend Sylvia, have a spot of lunch and then wander around spying all the gorgeous houses, I’m a sucker for the pastel rows of townhouses, it has made me think that every house should be colourful. This wall, which FYI actually houses a public toilet and a florist, I know strange combo, instantly made me think of all those amazing LA bloggers and their style shoot locations, plus I think the crazy shadows just made me think of the California sunshine, if you squint you can pretend they are shadows of palm trees.
Normally, September is all about introducing those autumn pieces, I still haven’t bought anything cold related, yeah to our late burst of summer, so it was so nice to shoot in front of this statement wall wearing a fun dress, which accidently, slightly on purpose totally matches. I know, you may recognise this Gap dress, I shot it in 2014, but hey, I like to reuse cute looks. Plus, it is a little nice to see that my outfit posts have really improved, moving them out of my garden really helped!!! I hope you guys think so as well. I used to cringe a little looking back, but I’ve learnt this year to embrace them, if you can’t see improvements then you aren’t moving forward.
