When you see red poppies do you think remembrance? I do, there’s something about the impact of this carpet of red making a statement in the South Cambridgeshire landscape that just made me stop, think, admire and remember. However, this field here is a mistake, it should be blue linseed, instead, the poppies took over, and now it is a beautiful mishap, where bloggers and every passer-by goes to pose. Don’t you wish that all mistakes looked this pretty? Next time I make an error I’m hoping that instead of horrible consequences I get sent a bouquet of flowers, I’m not fussy about what kind of flowers, just something pretty.
I actually stumbled across this field while driving, it really does make an impact miles away, this field of red poppies looks striking next to fields of green, and I was so happy that I was able to snap some pictures of this blue look that I wore to brunch while my Mum was down to visit. Actually, my Mum bought me this fabulous top from Zara, I adore the colour, this blue looks great against the red, but what I love the most is the sleeves, if I’m not wearing off-the-shoulder styles, the sleeves have to be frilled and floaty. Added bonus, this top is the sale for less than £20.
I love it paired with jeans, there’s something about adding a structured, tailored top with a feminine edge with a casual pair of skinny jeans, especially when they are lighter in colour, it makes the top perfect for a weekend brunch. But it will also look great paired with a pair of tailored trousers, a cool leather skirt, or even underneath a slip dress, those sleeves just want to be shown off.
The rest of the look is just blue, blue and a little bit more blue, which to be honest I think would have looked cool against a field of blue linseed, but I wonder whether that cute blue crop would have had me pulling over and dodging traffic to get over to the field? Probably not.
I love these skinny jeans, they are Ida by Donna Ida, I just love that they are high-waisted, perfect for this slightly shorter boxy Zara top, and they are a great length, so look great when paired with Keds, which are my go-to summer trainer as they are so lightweight and easy to wear. They go with everything, especially when you get them in navy blue, plus they are super comfortable with their cushioned insole.
Finishing up my look is this cute denim clutch that I made at the Accessorize press day, everything is personalised about the look, I chose the patches and the badges and I love it, and I think I will keep adding badges to it, I’m currently looking for a great D badge. Is anyone else obsessed with badges and patches? I really just can’t get enough. I’m looking for a perfect denim jacket at the moment to make my own personalised beauty. I just can’t get a great fit, they are either too short, too long, too big or too tight, or not the right shade. So difficult, but I’m on a mission now so I’m sure I will find one. Tweet me @FashionNBarbie if you’ve bought a great one recently for me to check out.
Are you a fan of how I styled this Zara top? Do you love the poppies backdrop?
