Less than six months ago I hadn’t really been in a Joules, I knew it was the place to buy stripes and a floral pattern, but I never realised how much I needed this brand until I got a dog. You see, I like the outdoors, but generally my clothing is never what you can call weather appropriate, I get soaked a lot and I ruin clothes a lot, so after a month of doing this walking Falcon I decided I needed a change, and that’s where Joules came in. Before Falcon, I didn’t own a pair of Wellington boots, and ruined many pairs of trainers, I now have a pair with dogs on, super cute, but also keep my feet dry. I also didn’t really have an outdoor coat that was great for throwing on in all weathers, I have a super thick Barbour or a flyaway pac-a-mac, but now I have an actual waterproof jacket. Not one of those boring ones you see in outdoor stores, this beauty is vibrant and bold and I’m totally obsessed with the soft jersey stripey lining.
When you have two amazing outdoor pieces all set for a dog walk you have to find a great location to show them off, so of course I whizzed up to the Lake District, what could be better than a lake view to show off my practical-yet-chic dog walking outfit, which FYI, I’m obsessed with. OK, so we weren’t just there to share this look, but wow what a setting, Bassenthwaite Lake is somewhere I haven’t been before and it was so good to recharge my batteries and just splash in the lake with Falcon, who were are trying at the moment to socialise with water following his little scare falling in a local river, just so you know he swam fine but he has seemed spooked since. Having these wellies on really help as I could go in with him, he thought it was hilarious to nearly tip me over, and it’s good getting him back loving the water especially with the summer months, it’s a great way for a dog to cool down.
What I love most about this look is that it doesn’t just work in the Lake District, or even the great outdoors, this look minus the wellies, of course, would totally work as a great day outfit shopping or lunch with friends, basically I can see myself wearing this stripey top and red coat combination a lot. I also think these wellies are going to be a hit for me during festival season, they will look great with cropped denim shorts, and I love the mid-height, so much more comfortable and easier to walk in. The only problem I will probably have is I think they are so cute I won’t want to get mud on them!!!
