I’ve found the ultimate pair of trainers you are going to need this summer – the new Converse Chuck Taylor Gemma, a new feminine silhouette for us girlies, which comes in a gorgeous array of foil metallic hues, and seriously once you try you are going to be smitten. So what’s different about these Converse? Well, they’ve been given a refined silhouette, girlie if you like, thanks to its sleek almond toe shape, glossy midsole, and a generally slimmer feel. Comfort has also been enhanced if like me you think Converse are already pretty comfortable, you’ll love these even more as they have an OrthoLite sock liner and cushioned sole, plus a little elastic for a more flexible fit.
So quick recap, the Converse Chuck Taylor Gemma has a sleeker, slimmer girlie look, added comfort, and to top it all off a new selection of great colours. There are 10 colourways to choose from, my favourites being the foiled leather metallics, silver, gold and red in the low styles, and a great sapphire hue and black in the hi-tops. Of course, it wouldn’t be Converse without the canvas beauties, in the classic white, black, blue, red and grey colours. I think I might need to invest in a pair of the white canvas ones as well, they will literally go with everything and anything.
I couldn’t resist the silver ones, I love cracked metallic leather, and these beauties are so comfortable. I have, to be honest, I hadn’t before considered Converse chunky trainers, but now that I’ve tried the Converse Chuck Taylor Gemma I can definitely see the difference in silhouette, even if it is subtle. The main difference for me was the comfort, Converse can sometimes feel a little thin on the sole, especially when you’ve been walking for a little while, the Gemma’s feel more like wearing New Balance, the padding really helps.
I wore mine out to the beach, I know Converse and the beach sounds a little silly, but with the cracked leather you can just wipe the sand away, plus I love the backdrop of Holkham Beach in Norfolk, and it was nice to see my new puppy Falcon getting in on the posing, isn’t he so cute.
I just felt that these Converse worked perfectly with this gorgeous summery dress from Unique 21, and who would have thought you’d see me in a white dress, but I do love this one, the sheer arms make it perfect for spring, and I love the pleated skirt. I couldn’t find the exact one online, but this one here is pretty similar. As I was wearing a lot of white I decided to break up the look with a cute coloured belt, not only do I love adding a pop of colour, but I think it really nips in the silhouette of this shirt-style dress, plus it also goes well with my mermaid hair.
Finishing up my look are these gorgeous London Retro sunglasses, I’m obsessed with marble prints, I know how very original of me, and these beauties also have blue lenses, so perfect for a trip to the beach. They are from the Sunglasses Shop, which is FYI one of my favourite places to shop for prescription sunglasses, great selection and cheap, these ones were less than £100.
