Beauty Favourites: Benefit, Lord & Berry, & Nanshy

I haven’t done a beauty favourites post in a while, I’m not sure why as I have tons of amazing products that I’m loving, so I’ve decided to try and make this a monthly gig to share the beauty pieces that I’m loving and using a lot, and this month it’s all about Benefit and the new additions to The POREfessional range, the most incredible waterproof make-up remover, and a great collection of cruelty-free eye make-up brushes from Nanshy.

Beauty Favourites: Benefit POREfessional Matte Rescue & Instant Wipeout Mask

If you are already a fan of Benefit’s POREfessional range you will love these two new additions, especially the Matte Rescue Invisible Finish Mattifying Gel (£21.50), an amazing lightweight, water-based gel that helps tackle shine, blurs your pores, as well as hydrate your skin, which is especially needed in the winter. I’m a big fan of Benefit’s skincare, not just because of the fun packaging, but because I find that they aren’t heavy on my skin and do like how they are innovative with their products, this little beauty’s secret ingredient is diamond powder, which is known for its soft-focus pore-blurring effect.

What I love about the Matte Rescue has to be the fact it has a natural-looking matte finish that doesn’t dry out my skin, I find that even though I do need a matte product under my make-up most out there dry up my skin and my make-up doesn’t sit well, this product due to its lightweight texture feels really nice on and I love that you don’t need to wear too much of it. I simply applied a thin layer of the gel over my freshly cleansed face, as well as my usual moisturiser, and then waited a few minutes before adding my usual primer and foundation. It might seem like an extra step in my routine but I’m telling you it is worth it for great looking skin.

The other product, the super-cleaning pore masks (8 for £24.50), is a pamper session waiting to happen, as the super-hero shaped dual-sided mask gets to work on your pore-problem areas, think nose, forehead and even chin, yes this crazy mask can be used in various spots on the face, not just over the nose like other products. The smoother side starts by cleaning out and smoothing the look of your pores, while the special textured fabric helps exfoliate and remove impurities using a mushroom extract which is known to clarify pores.

All I can say is this is a great addition to bathtime relaxation, the mask goes on for 10 minutes and you get to soak your worries and shrink your pores while actually doing nothing, that’s the sort of beauty product I love. I’ve only tried this around my nose, one thing I will say is the menthol scent is strong, I think my eyes watered the first time I used it, but you do get used to it.

Beauty Favourites: Lord & Berry 2 Phases Waterproof Make Up Remover

I have very sensitive eyes and I find most eye make-up removers hurt like crazy and they are even worse if they take an age to get my eye make-up off, well that’s where this gorgeous looking Lord & Berry 2 Phases comes in, as the dual phase remover is not only mesmerising, I could tip it up and down all day watching the two phases mix together, but also mild, as well as being designed to remove the most stubborn of make-up including smudgeproof, waterproof and long-lasting make-up. OK, normally I’m skeptical about such claims, and normally if the remover can get rid of my Mac eyeliner with ease then it is normally so greasy I don’t want to use it, this beauty is gentle, soothing, and moisturising, and that’s all down to the extracts of cabbage rose oil and the anti-inflammatory and toning extract of hamamelis. I know right, fancy!!!

As well as working its magic on my eye make-up, including my super-strength waterproof mascara, its gentle, non-irritating formula means you can take off the rest of your face as well, including the most stubborn of lip stains with one ease sweep of a cotton bud, yep, I didn’t need three or four to get the job done. Normally I would use my make-up remover then finish it off with my toner to fully cleanse my face but I have to admit I did feel that my face felt clean and I didn’t need to even rinse it off.

There’s a downside, it is a little pricey, at £16.50 for 150ml, I wonder how far it will actually go. I would love to use this daily but I think to give it more shelf life I will just be using it only on those stubborn make-up products.

Beauty Favourites: Nanshy Eye Brush Set

When it comes to make-up brushes I’m shocking, I’m one of those people that doesn’t regularly clean them, I know terrible, I would actually rather just buy a new one, again, I know that’s not the right idea, but now I know why, as I obviously wasn’t using great brushes likes these from Nanshy. I actually had never heard of this brand before, and I actually can’t remember which event I was gifted them at, I know bad right, but they are amazing, and the best bit they are 100% vegan, cruelty-free and approved by Peta.

Normally I get rid of brushes because I don’t like the texture of the brush and the bristles shed too much, these beauties not only look good, I’m obsessed with the wooden pearl coated handles, the antibacterial synthetic vegan bristles really have a density and firmness, while still being soft to the touch on the skin, and I really feel like using these seven distinct eye brushes has really made my eye make-up look better. That might have a lot to do with the fact I didn’t realise there were 7 different brushes before to do my eye make-up, thankfully these beauties are all labelled. We have a precise bent eyeliner brush, which isn’t pictured as it is my favourite it really has made applied eyeliner so much easier; an angled detailer brush, for those hard to reach areas; a flat definer brush; a blending eyeshadow brush, great for a smoother application; eye crease brush; tappered crease brush, to make your eyes pop apparently; and a large shadow brush.

I have to be honest I’ve been really impressed with the quality, the softness of the brushes and the price, seven brushes for less than £30 is great value. Plus, it has made me realise that I need to start looking at my beauty products a little closer to ensure that they are animal-friendly. I think I will have to look at the other brushes sets that the brand has to offer.
