This year for me is about considered wardrobe additions, I hate to say the current buzz word – creating a capsule wardrobe, but, I’m looking to make my clothes go further, by investing in better basics, looking at new ways to style and wear the pieces I have, as well as add key investment pieces, the camel coat is high on my current hit list. This thinking led me to do a January detox of my wardrobe, I donated a lot of pieces to the charity, and I discovered looks like this summery monochrome dress I picked up from Asos a few years back that I thought would be perfect to style for a winter look.
I tried a few options to make this monochrome dress prepared for the winter chill, I teamed it with a chunky maxi cardigan, which did work when teamed with biker boots for a casual look, a long-sleeve tee, but I was still a little cold, and I even tried wearing it with a jumper over it, so worn as a skirt, but my favourite, and also the warmest, had to be by pairing it with this gorgeous super-soft Long Tall Sally roll neck jumper.
I then just added tights, because bare legs at this time of year is crazy, ankle boots, a staple of any wardrobe, and the summery monochrome dress has been given a winter makeover and I didn’t have to buy any new. I think I’ll be trying this out on some of my other summer looks as it is so easy to achieve and I don’t have to pack some of my favourite dresses away for half the year.
I think to give all those dresses at the back of my wardrobe a winter outing I just need to invest in a few more roll neck jumpers, which I’m counting as a clothing basic, I’m thinking navy and cream would look perfect under some of my other sleeveless dresses.
