Friday Favourites: Ruffles & Frills

I know it is still winter, but the high street is awash with spring/summer 2016 trends already, and one of my favourites as seen on the catwalk at Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, JW Anderson, Carven, Marques’ Almeida and Giambattista Valli, had to be delicate feminine ruffles and frills. The catwalk had it all sheer tiers, chiffon cascades, even leather ruffles, all of which added delicacy and drama to beautiful dresses, coats and skirts, and I love that the high street has taken note and adapted the catwalk ruffles to gorgeous tops.

Out of all the trends coming ruffles and frills is one of the easiest to have a go at, especially as the high street has so many to offer and each one of the five I’m in love with are all under £40. The best bit about this week’s Friday Favourites has to be you can go as big or as small as you want with the ruffle, there are pieces out there that are either delicate or dramatic to make a statement, for me, it’s all about the delicate structure of the ruffle, I love adding a touch of femininity into my wardrobe, and there is something about a ruffle that always makes me smile and feel feminine.

Buy Ruffles & Frills: 1. Asos – off-the-shoulder top with ruffle sleeve, £30 // 2. Topshop – ruffle tie-neck shirt, £38 // 3. H&M – Conscious collection ruffle blouse, £29.99 // 4. Oasis – blue frill sleeve blouse, £32 // 5. Boohoo – Poppy ruffle sleeve sweater, £15 – also comes in Black //

Easing into the trend go for this chic ruffle neck-tie shirt from Topshop, it will basically go with everything from a high-waisted skirt to ripped jeans, and even under a jumper until it gets a little warmer, and it really only has the littlest of ruffles, but enough to still be on trend.

After a little more, check out this off-the-shoulder beauty from Asos, those sleeves are divine, or the gentle frill running down the sleeve of the Oasis blouse that will look great teamed with cigarette trousers. For a great evening look why not go for this black beauty from the H&M Conscious collection, I adore the sheer long sleeves and the neckline as well as the gathered ruffle to the front, plus it’s less than £30.

But the piece that I’m snapping up straight away, and which I think might make an entrance at London Fashion Week, has to be the bargain ruffle sleeve sweater from Boohoo, it comes in white and black and is only £15, yep that’s right a steal, I think I might need both colours. I love the structured of the sweater, it will look amazing worn with ripped jeans and a block heel, as well as with smart tailored trousers, and a sexy leather skirt. I just can’t get over the price.

Will you be wearing ruffles and frills this spring? Which top is taking your fancy?
