Where do you find inspiration? For me, I have to take myself away from my work, my office, and sometimes just take the afternoon off to recharge my batteries, and that’s what I did recently with the lovely Sylvia Sparkles. We decided to take in the art and surroundings of the Tate Britain, have a spot of lunch, pose for some pictures, I really wanted to share this beautiful Blue Vanilla dress, and basically catch-up on life, future plans, and generally re-inspire ourselves.
I’m not saying that my love for blogging has subsided, quite the contrary, to be honest, I’m coming up to six years doing Fashionista Barbie in January and 2015 definitely has been the year I’ve felt things come together. I have certainly found it more enjoyable, and I have loved the challenge of expanding my remit from fashion to travel and lifestyle, but every couple of months, especially when I’ve been busy I need a recharging session to push me on to make Fashionista Barbie the very best I can make it.
Today’s style post is all about this beautiful and super affordable Blue Vanilla pussy-bow shirt dress. I’m a lover of dresses, but sometimes in the winter I revert back to my staple of wearing jeans and a jumper, so I’m trying to start the season with the right intentions and this dress is perfect to layer under a big winter coat and team with chunky ankle boots.
I love the 70s pussy-bow detailing, as well as the gorgeous khaki colour, which I think works really well with the blush pink Knomo Elektronista Clutch, the relaxed fit – perfect for wearing loose or nipping in at the waist for a more fitted look, as well as the longer hemline at the back. It really is a comfortable dress to wear and I love that you can dress it up with heels and a shaggy faux fur coat for a night out, or dress down for a day at the art gallery like I have with boots and a cross-body bag.
I always think a cool looking dress like this, especially with the oversized bow detailing, doesn’t need a lot of jewellery, the dress speaks for itself, but I couldn’t resist adding this cute retro-style silver locket that I recently picked up at a Stella & Dot event, and I can’t wait to select a memorable photograph to put inside. Plus, as I’m a watch addict, I had to wear the new Stella & Dot Icon watch in rose gold. This is an adorable timepiece, not only is the rose gold finish such a gorgeous colour, I’m obsessed with the arrow detailing on the hands, the Mother-of-pearl watch face and the fact you can change the straps, as well as the bezel watch face, in this case from rose gold to silver.
Personalisation is a big thing this year, whether it’s adding initials to a handbag, funky stickers, iron-on patches, or switching up your style with interchangeable elements, and this watch is one of my favourites, the quality and attention to detail is outstanding. There are three different watches, gold with a black strap, rose gold, and silver with a stone coloured strap, plus you can buy two double wrap interchangeable straps. I basically want them all to swap at will!!!
