I know technically we are still in autumn, but does anyone else feel that as soon as the clocks go back and the nights get darker earlier it is a sign to hibernate? For me, it’s a time of year where I just want to get cosy, put on a comfortable pair of pyjamas, wrap myself up in a blanket, curl up on the sofa reading a book under the soft glow of a cute lamp and beautifully scented candles with a giant mug of hot chocolate with little mini marshmallows. It’s like a mini ritual to get through winter, transforming a corner of my snug into a cosy spot to hibernate.
It’s also a great excuse to discover new homeware pieces, it is an ongoing passion project, you really can never have too many lights, candles, throws or trinkets, and thanks to the guys at Asda my little winter warmer corner has been given a New York makeover, which is quite fitting really as next week will be first wedding anniversary, and I do so wish I was in New York again.
The centrepiece has to be this incredible Star Bulb Lamp, £30, which is such great value for a quirky item, especially when it comes with a dimmer switch, perfect for creating a relaxing mood in my winter warmer corner. It also works perfectly with the New York pieces, the Skyline Cushion, £9, and the Yellow Taxi Cab Cushion, £5, both of which are super comfortable, and look great with the super-soft and snuggle-ready grey Knitted Throw, £15.
Then to create that beautiful flickering glow, I’ve added the cutest personalised Letter Candles, which at £2 each are great value, and I think our D & P looks perfect next to one of our wedding photos. When the winter months get tough, especially when the snow and freezing conditions really kick in, I’m going to love lighting these and remembering our magical day.
The final touch has to be these comfortable PJs from Soak and Sleep, you really can’t go wrong with brushed cotton flannel when it comes to nightwear, super soft and warm, and these ones are even more perfect as they have been personalised with my initials. I know loungewear is a thing now, but for me you can get more comfortable than PJs to wear while relaxing reading a fabulous book.
How are you redressing your house for winter?
