There’s only one thing I wish I’d been able to do more of in Kuala Lumpur and that’s shoot some fabulous outfit posts. I know what’s happened to me. The thing is I’ve learnt this year that what makes my style posts go easier is a great backdrop and there were so many great locations in this Malaysian capital. Sadly travelling alone meant no-one to capture my looks. I did try asking random strangers, even by targeting those with SLRs and it didn’t quite work out. I have lots of blurry and cropped pictures of me in great locations.
Thankfully there was one day when I got to see the city, as well as Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week – more coming soon on the amazing fashion, with Joyce from Kinky Blue Fairy, which meant I was able to shoot one of my favourite looks from my trip, this gorgeous floaty maxi dress.
With the Malaysian heat, loose-fitting clothes are definitely the way forward, and I really did love floating about Kuala Lumpur in this dress. I actually picked up this beauty in the Oasis sale just days before I flew out, the print and the colour really stood out. Other than the silhouette, I do love floaty empire line styles in tropical heat, they really do let you fake being cool as well as being super flattering. I’m also kind of obsessed with the print and how the colour perfectly matches with this gorgeous Cambridge Satchel Company – The Cloud Bag.
It’s strange how much print I’ve been wearing this year – there has been elephant printed shorts, monochrome tropical flowers, vintage-esq florals, as well as the floral maxi I wore in a field of lavender, there really has been less black and denim. Normally a bold print is something I would shy away from, but this year I have a new found confidence, helped in part to the lovely feedback I’ve been receiving from you guys – your love really does push me to step out of my comfort zone and have fun.
This Oasis print just captured my attention, mainly I think as it was a mosaic tiled print rather than all the floral pieces I keep seeing on the high street. I’m also a fan of the zip front, as well as the back, which sadly didn’t come out in the pictures – the heat was quite overpowering and we basically had two minutes to spare to shoot these snaps. But I hope you can see the magic of the dress, it really has a wow factor without being too overpowering, and it really just needed sunshine.
My floaty style: Maxi dress, Oasis // Boob tube, Primark // The Cloud Bag, Cambridge Satchel Company (c/o) // Gladiator flats, F&F at Tesco (super old) // Belt, New Look // Necklace, Thomas Sabo (c/o) // Glasses, Retro54 //
Let’s get back to the gorgeous Cambridge Satchel Company bag, isn’t it a beauty. I’ve always been a fan of CSC and I’ve been obsessed with their latest lines, you might have noticed my love affair with the Push Lock collection, and now I’ve added the gorgeous The Cloud Bag.
Come on you really can’t go wrong with a little scalloped detailing – it has the elegance of the classic satchel with a touch of romance that really takes this bag from day to night, you just take off the strap. Plus this colour, coastal blue is just divine. I also wore this bag to Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week and it really did gain a lot of attention, it really is nice to see the CSC brand gathering worldwide appeal.
