Fashionista Barbie is much more than just fashion, over the past five and a half years it really has developed into a fashion and lifestyle hub that I’m so proud of, and your wonderful feedback shows that I’m heading in the right direction. The growth of my blog has also meant that I have the ability to share and get behind some great causes, like Anthony Nolan’s #IGiveASpit campaign that I want to share today.
Anthony Nolan is all about saving the lives of people with blood cancer and the charity is currently working on highlighting the urgent need for more stem cell donors. The #IGiveASpit campaign is urging people to sign up to its stem cell register, especially young donors between the ages of 16 and 30, in particular men, as they produce more stem cells than women, but make up just 15% of the register, as well as calling on more donors from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.
The need is great. Someone is told they have blood cancer every 20 minutes in the UK, that’s a lot of people, and currently only 60 percent of patients are able to find a perfect match on the stem cell register. So just think the more young people that sign up, by simply giving up their spit, the more lives that could be saved. So why not share my blog with all the men in you life, ask them to give a spit, you never know you could save someone’s life, you can’t get better karma than that!!!
Want to get behind the campaign? Why not pick up one of the charity’s customisable Ashish T-shirts and share the #IGiveASpit message. You can buy the limited edition T-shirt from Anthony Nolan’s eBay site or from YrStore in the flagship Topshop and Topman on Oxford Street. Don’t forget once you have customised your tee post on Twitter and Instagram with the #IGiveASpit hashtag and tag in @AnthonyNolan.
