I’m a big fan of red carpet dressing, I loved getting all glammed with BAFTA a few weeks ago, and it was so much fun last week to be introduced to the amazing Bernshaw brand, which for the past 70 years has been designing glamorous occasion wear dresses.
It is one of those brands that if you have a big black tie bash, a day at the races, or a fancy wedding coming up that you have to check out as this amazing British label has some exquisite and flattering dresses.
This shoot was so unplanned, I was actually at their central London showroom to check out their autumn/winter 2015 collection, which FYI is amazing, and, of course, I couldn’t resist a dressing up session. I first went for full on glamour with the brands fully embellished sequinned beauties, then I tried this flirty cocktail style, the Ashley and with it being sunny outside I couldn’t resist heading out to the streets to shoot it.
I have to be honest I so wish I had worn make-up, a bright lip would have so pulled this look together, but I think our impromptu shoot came out really well, helped a lot by how fabulous the dress is. The fit is incredible, the nude lining really does help make you feel more streamlined, and I loved the flirty fit-n-flare silhouette, it makes this little black dress playful and chic, and I really think it totally works with my New Look flats.
This beauty is a little pricey, it will retail for £375 when it hits stores at the end of June, but with it being black I think you would get lots of use out of it. You can either opt for all-black like I have, brighten it up with a pop of colour by going for bright accessories, or even do a monochrome vibe by pairing with a white tuxedo blazer for a full on chic look. I also think this beauty would also work with white Converse for the fun ‘night after’ look.
