Critics’ Choice Awards: My Five Favourite Red Carpet Looks

So the award season is certainly in full swing, which I am loving, first up was the Golden Globes that was semi-disappointing this year, but thankfully this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards really did make up for some of the boring looks from last Sunday, I am talking about you Emily Blunt!!!

I know I normally do individual red carpet posts, but as I am late on this as I was actually travelling when the awards were taking place, I thought I would just share my five favourite looks, and trust me they are all beautiful.

First up we have Angelina Jolie who looked like a million dollars in her silver silk Atelier Versace gown. Granted this isn’t an original look, but if it isn’t broken why fix it comes to mind, but hey, at least, it isn’t black. I love how this gown flows and how it adds curves to Angie’s tiny frame with its fluty sleeves, draped bodice and plunging neckline. This gown is perfection with a real Hollywood movie star appeal and I adore it.

I love Diane’s red carpet style but this is elegance on another level, I really love the stunning china-blue print, even if some of my Twitter followers felt it looked like a vintage plate design. I am not sure if I prefer this look to her gorgeous Golden Globes Emilia Wickstead gown but it is still beautiful and such a great award ceremony look.

Then we have Michelle Monaghan showing off her sexy-yet-elegant side in this stunning black Elie Saab gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. Normally one to showcase colour on the red carpet, I am so pleased that she opted for the understated black, as I just feel that with the sheer lace bodice and slits to the skirt that it just works better in black. The fit of this gown is just perfect on her as well, and I love that she wore her hair up and kept her make-up to a minimum. This is simply glamorous.

For my fourth look I have gone for Jennifer Aniston as not only was I shocked that she wasn’t wearing black, I love that she took a fashion risk and went for a sexy Gucci tuxedo in a gorgeous burnt-sienna hue. I was disappointed with her yawn of a gown to the Golden Globes and I have to wonder why she didn’t wear this as she would have certainly stood out.

There is something about a woman in a tuxedo and I love that instead of going for a safer option by wearing this in black she went for it in red, it totally paid off as she looks hot!!! I know a lot has been spoken about the fact that she was on the red carpet for the first time in years with Angelina Jolie but I think this look is so different from her silver gown that it stops comparisons and that was very clever.

For some this had a little bit too much plunge, I have to disagree I think the neckline and opting for no blouse really works and I love that she accessorised her décolletage with a couple of gold necklaces. Another love from this look has to be those flared-leg trousers, they are so flattering and really give her super long legs.

My final look that I adored at the Critics’ Choice Awards had to be Emily Blunt, like with Jennifer her Golden Globes look didn’t excite me, and it is because I knew that she could do so much better like with this red embroidered lace Emilio Pucci halter-neck gown. How stunning is this, if it was in white it would make a great wedding gown with those sheer chiffon inserts.

I do love the colour choice, it adds a touch of sex appeal to the elegance glamour of the embroidered gown and I love her wavy hair, it all just looks so effortless. Also, Emily and her husband John Krasinski really are leading the Hollywood pack for the cutest couple award.

Which was your favourite look from this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards?
