Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 – Day 2

LFW SS15 – Day 2 can sometimes be the hardest day to get going during fashion week, I think it is because the first day is always a little bit of a shock to your system. But today has been fun, I’ve seen some great presentations, I’ve enjoyed celeb spotting at House of Holland, Rita Ora has a new under-cut if you care, and Holly Fulton showcased a really strong monochrome collection. As well as all that fashion, I hung out at The Apartment, had my hair done, again, this time I went for a fishtail braid, and I raided their wardrobe and picked put some fab new accessories mainly this beautiful Kurt Geiger handbag, which is just the most perfect shade of red.

LFW-SS15-Orla-Kiely-2My first show of the day was a cutie, Orla Kiely, which is always well attended as no one doesn’t like adorable dresses, quirky accessories and an entertaining approach to showing off a collection. In previous seasons we’ve had a Mad Men-style typing pool and a safari backdrop, and for SS15 we got an English country garden, where the models planted the blooms and artists painted flowers on clear screens. As always I have left wanting to be an Orla Kiely girl, to skip around in the summer sun wearing my gorgeous floral smock dress in chunky platform heels.

From the English garden I went to the beach for Markus Lupfer’s latest collection, complete with a camper van and cocktail bar. The collection was fun and wearable and every cool girl in the house, sadly not me, was probably already making a mental note of the items they needed to make SS15 magically. I really loved the jacquards, the holographic metallic and the casual silhouettes, it was just cool, and it was another step forward into making his line a great ready-to-wear label that isn’t all about statement sequinned jumpers.

Next up lunch, another burger, sorry but I can’t resist GBK, more chat with friends, and then a mad dash to Holly Fulton as I go completely got carried away with just relaxing. I’m so glad I did haul my arse over to Somerset House as Holly was on form and put together a stunning monochrome-heavy collection, which was an ode to “sun-workship, folk art and free expression” and it was beautiful.

Holly’s coats are always a highlight each season and this black and white graphic print really stood out. I also loved that she contrasted the monochrome with gorgeous hues of lemon and a turquoise blue. There were also some incredible sunglasses from her Cutler and Gross collaboration, as well as some stunningly embellished evening gowns.

I had a little bit of a break between Holly Fulton and the House of Holland show so I set about shooting today’s look – this gorgeous monochrome co-ords from Reiss that I got at The Apartment’s pre-LFW event. I wouldn’t normally have gone for this look, a little too scared of rocking an all-over print, but Reiss’ fabulous personal stylist convinced me to try it on and I absolutely loved it and I hope you guys do as well.

As the Reiss trousers and top combination looks is a little bold, well for me anyhow, in fashion week terms I probably looked very tame, I went for a statement look with a fishtail braid with a lot of volume from the Blow Ltd team, I think it worked well but I did feel like it was a little wild at the back. This look also needed great accessories, of course the Kurt Geiger bag, the red really pops, and as I was running around all day I went for my comfortable Clarks, a block heel does make everything much better, and the finishing touch were my Swag and Stare red framed glasses that are still one of my favourite pairs of glasses.

Then I was on to my last show of the day, House of Holland, which is always a blast, the music, the starry-cool front row and the fun collection. He always brings the best soundtrack and this season it was more heavier than usual with his colourful collection striding down the catwalk to Purple Haze. Inspired by groupies, this was a print-heavy collection, lots of flower power going on, and more embellishment detailing than I had seen before from Henry. My favourite piece had to be this blue glittery polka dot print parka, which I am sure you will see in a number of festival edits come spring.
