Who could forget Jeremy Scott‘s explosive, fun, junk food-inspired autumn/winter 2014 collection for Moschino, I think the French fries iPhone cover was Instagrammed by all the top bloggers within days of the catwalk show, well it seems that for his first ad campaign he has gone for a more iconic, timeless approach and I adore it.
Starring Linda Evangelista and shot by Steven Meisel, the campaign is less trashy-chic and more classy than I was expecting after seeing the McDonald’s Moschino Happy Meal handbags and SpongeBob Square Pants knits hit the Milan catwalk – the gaudy colours have been replaced for a classic black and white portrait that actually makes that McDonalds bag look classy.
I love everything about this campaign – from the black and white to the pose, now that is a supermodel working it, to the big blow dry, gorgeous tailored coat and super cute earrings. The catwalk might have been to grab attention, steal a few headlines during fashion week, but this campaign is all about selling the collection. If nothing else you have got to admit, McDonalds has never looked so good!
Updated: More of the Moschino’s autumn/winter 2014 campaign has been released and it just keeps getting better. I just adore the styling by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, seriously exquisite and truly captures a different side of the collection, especially with it shot in black and white. I also love the use of the all-star crew – for Jeremy Scott’s first campaign it is great that he could get Linda Evangelista, Stella Tennant, Carolyn Murphy, Saskia Debraw, Karen Elson and Rachel Zimmerman all to take part as they look incredible.
What do you think of the first Jeremy Scott Moschino campaign?
