When I heard that Cosmo’s Shelly Vella was doing a collection with Miss Selfridge I was excited to see it as I am a fan of the fashion and style director’s boho vintage style as well as her love for sequins, and Shelly has to be one of the nicest fashion peeps on Twitter, I am avid fan/stalker of her Instagram and her shopping tweets.
The collection, inspired by a trip to India with Miss Selfridge’s creative director Yasmin Yusuf, totally lives up to expectations as it has a luxurious bohemian vibe throughout with incredible embellished pieces, classic pieces that have been updated with fun touches such as the embroidered leather jacket, and some of the most amazing statement jewellery I have seen in a while.
I like a lot of the 30-piece collection, granted some things are a little too young for me – come on tiny cut off denim shorts are for the young hipsters, but I love how wearable the range is from the gorgeous beaded black dress to the sheer smock top with the touches of India detailed on the neckline.
But for me this collection is all about the accessories from the vintage-looking suede buckled boots to the incredible jewellery selection, which includes a gorgeous adorned harness, an exquisite coin tassle necklace and a gold jewelled headband for anyone brave enough to make a statement.
High up on my wish list though are the bags – I am in love with the Indian-made metal bags – the detailing is just incredible for a high street collection and just think how gorgeous they will look paired with a pair of jeans a tee. I also have my eye on the rucksack, which was inspired by Indian markets, I love the colour explosion and the embellishments – plus I am a sucker for pompoms!!!
I have placed the whole collection below – let me know which pieces are on your wish list – and if you are obsessed with the bags like me.
