I have a fascination with fashion documentaries whether it is a behind-the-scenes look at streetstyle photography with Bill Cunningham, an in-depth look at Karl Lagerfeld’s every day life, how a September issue is actually put together or insight into fashion designer Tom Ford‘s life – well next up on my list to watch has to be Mademoiselle C, which follows fashion editor, Carine Roitfeld.
Since it was announced last year I have been excited to glimpse into her life, I loved her work when she was the Vogue Paris editor, and to be honest the magazine hasn’t quite been the same without her. The first look at her documentary, from the production company behind The September Issue, has been released and it centres around the debut issue of her new magazine, CR Fashion Book, and shows the editor working on the project in Paris and New York.
As well as all things Carine, this documentary also has a host of fashion faces from Donatella Versace to Karl Lagerfeld, as well as Tom Ford and Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz – all it seems love her.
As well as getting an insight into her creative process, her personal life like becoming a grandmother – I can’t wait to see the bit where she is singing in Russian, which is apparently her favourite moment of the film.
The documentary opens in the US on September 11, and then at London’s CIne Lumiere from September 20, but if you want to watch at home you won’t have to wait long as the DVD is released on September 30.
Are you looking forward to seeing Carine Roitfeld’s documentary?
