There is something different about Olivia Wilde of late, don’t get me wrong she has always been stunning, extremely beautiful and graceful, but she seriously hasn’t wowed me in a long time, so long I had to delve deep into the Fashionista Barbie archives to find her in that gorgeous Marchesa gown that she wore to the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards – now that was a frock. Since then she really hasn’t stood out on my radar, well that was until last night in New York where she wore two amazing dresses as she promotes her new film Butter.
First up was a very chic Alexander McQueen white leaf crepe pencil dress from the Resort 2013 collection, which fitted her perfectly. What I love most about this look, other than being very envious of her fab body, is that she wore this in white, she could have so easily gone for black and it wouldn’t have had the same impact, plus I adore white teamed with gold accessories – those Giuseppe Zanotti heels are amazing. Plus what better way to finish off a look than with an Alexander McQueen skull box clutch – absolutely love it from head-to-toe.
Second up, and by no means least, was her incredible transformation into a green printed Calvin Klein Collection cape dress for the afterparty and the launch of Calvin Klein’s new men’s fragrance, Encounter, you know the one with hunky Alexander Skarsgård as the face.
Her stylist, Karla Welch, who has been a busy lady lately also styling Zooey Deschanel and Kelly Osbourne at the Emmys, has really done an incredible job. I love cape dresses – hey Gwyneth Paltrow really did steal the show at the Oscars in Tom Ford, and I love any cape on a gown – especially when being worn by Sarah Jessica Parker, her red Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown was divine, and I really do feel that Olivia’s Calvin Klein look is just as gorgeous.
I have to admit I love seeing cape gowns go dramatic and skim the floor but I actually think those Calvin Klein Collection cobra chain heels really pull off this look falling just above the ankle. Another stunning look from Olivia.
Which of the looks do you think Olivia works best?
