Louis Vuitton have developed a real art of transforming their catwalk shows into their advertising campaigns and I loved that the Louis Vuitton Express wasn’t put into retirement straight after the show.
I have to be honest the autumn/winter 2012 Louis Vuitton collection wasn’t my favourite shown during Paris Fashion Week or any of the AW12 shows, the clothes are a little too out there for me, but the art direction of the train was a unique idea.
This is the first ad from the AW12 campaign, shot by Steven Meisel and really delivers the glamorous era of high-class train travel, but for me it feels more like an editorial spread as there is so much going on. I love the concept, but for me there are just too many models to concentrate on, so many colours mixed in together from mustard to aubergine, and on top of all that lots of different prints.
I think the star of this first campaign shot, has to be those handbags, normally I am not a leopard-print fan but even I can see why they wouldn’t want to stow those beauties.
I am sure there will be many more campaign images unveiled that aren’t as chaotic, and maybe even ones that allow the models to shine, as this one I can’t figure out who is who with them hiding underneath those crazy crumpled hats.
So who else wants to get aboard the Louis Vuitton Express? Also anyone else have visions of all these models heading to Hogwarts?
