Not content with being outdone by H&M who have been working the celebrity red carpet circuit of late, Topshop dressed two big stars for the Met Gala 2012 in New York last night. First up is actress Jamie King, who was created a custom-made dress using the Unique autumn/winter 2012 devore silk fabric with cross motifs, and the Topshop in-house design team decided that her dress needed to be a bold red colour, and I am glad they did as the colour really worked.
This dress however is gorgeous from the front, but it is exquisite when you see the open-back teamed with that gorgeous Bulgari necklace that draped down her back, one of the best jewels of the night for me. Oh and that train is just divine, finishes off the dress perfectly.
The high street brand also modified one of the dresses from the Topshop Unique autumn/winter 2012 catwalk show for model Dree Hemingway. The gold sequinned dress was apparently going to be floor-length, but the team decided to make it knee-length and I am so glad they did as I think it works better falling just below her knee. I also love the sheer panelling to the bust, gives it a sexy vibe that works with her pop of red lippy.
So which Topshop dress gets your vote – Jamie or Dree?
I am wondering if there is a formalwear collection in the works for Topshop? If there was would you buy?
