Cannes 2012: Fan Bing Bing Wears A Piece Of Art

Who: Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing

Where: Arriving at the Electrolux for the Opening Night of The 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival at the Palais des Festivals

Wearing: A strapless embroidered tapestry gown decorated with traditional Tang dynasty stories designed by her friend and stylist Chris Bu Kewen, teamed with an Elie Saab clutch and Chopard jewellery

Verdict: It was at Cannes a few years back that Fan Bing Bing made it onto my radar and it is because of stunning looks like this. Last year she also wore a Christopher Bu look featuring a white crane print that made me think that it had been inspired by a traditional robe, and this year’s has a porcelain vase quality about it.

I love that she shares her Chinese heritage on the red carpet, this look is divine and I love that she complimented her gorgeous gown with her hair pinned like a noble woman from the Tang dynasty, which is also represented on the gown.

It really does remind me of a piece of art, incredible detail, love the colouring of the gown, her hair is amazing, and her emerald Chopard jewellery really is perfection.

No one except Fan Bing Bing could have pulled off this dress for me – simply stunning – last year she was my overall best dressed from Cannes 2011 and I think she’ll be giving Diane Kruger a run for her money if her looks continue like this!!!
