I was lucky enough to catch Nan Goldin’s photography exhibition when it came to London a few years back, to say she is a genius is an understatement, I just love how she sees herself as a ‘defender of the real’, yep she isn’t one for the retouch. It is probably because of her ‘raw and unaltered’ approach to her art that she hasn’t done many, if any, fashion campaigns before, well what a way to branch out with a global campaign for Jimmy Choo’s Icons collection.
What I love about the above image is how vibrant the colours are and how perfect the forest backdrop is with a taxidermy sculpture of a peacock to the side. I really do think Carrie from Sex and the City would totally approve of how the Marlene looks, that is striking and even with the model looking so ethereal and the forest being so beautiful, my eye is still drawn to the violet and blue shoe!!
Nan Goldin’s series of campaign images launch in November to support the Jimmy Choo’s Icon collection, which features re-issues of classic styles from the company’s archive, and the best bit is 10% percent of net sales of the Icons collection will be donated to The Jimmy Choo Foundation.
This image shot in the reflection of a mirror is so stunning that I totally want that print on my wall. I do love with fashion and art really works and for me Jimmy Choo gets an A* from me on this fabulous campaign.
