Last week I raved about how much Long Tall Sally had changed, and excited I was at actually finding a winter coat that fitted my long arms. Well now here are the beauties I was talking about from their amazing autumn/winter 2011 collection, and there is something for every occasion.
First up are the weekend staples, starting with the denim jacket, this one is perfect as it also has an adorable faux shearling collar. As well as the cut being flattering, it is also great for all-year-round wearing as the shearling collar can be removed as well as the button-out thermal fleece. I do love casual and cosy and this beauty is available now for £70.
With weather like ours you need a waxed jacket in your wardrobe, and this casual weekend jacket complete with a textured cord collar and checked lining is the perfect accompaniment to a winter walk. One of the other fashion bloggers snapped this beauty on the day, and I am not surprised at it was only £80.
My favourite of the weekend coats has to be this very on-trend hooded parka, I am completely in love with this utility style parka for £120. As with the denim jacket, this parka has a detachable fleece layer, which means it will see you through from winter to next year’s festival season. I tried this coat on and it was so cosy and I love the toggle fasteners.
A key investment every winter is a great coat, and I think if you are after something modern with a vintage twist then this 50’s Fur Trimmed Coat, £150, is for you. Made from a soft flecked tweed I love the addition of the soft faux fur trim on the collar and cuffs, this coat will brighten up any cold morning. The coat has a great silhouette with its softly tailored design fitted to the waist and then flares into a pleated skirt, and comes with a detachable belt.
For a tall lady the maxi coat trend can be quite scary, well this gorgeous belted camel maxi for £150, oozes glamour and elegance. What I love about this coat has to be the oversize lapel and I think everyone needs a camel classic in their wardrobe.
Perfect For The Office
For the office, and generally your every day coat you just want something classic that will work with everything. I think this Tweed Double Breasted Coat, £125, is perfect with its a-line style. It also makes a change from just a boring black one with the white fleck. This jacket is also one of Lisa Butcher’s top picks.
The Much Needed Leather Jacket
If you talk about coats that every woman needs in their wardrobe I think you would state a trench coat as well as a good quality leather jacket. I have been looking for too long now for the perfect leather jacket, I always find it hard to get them long enough for my body and arms as well as the leather feeling like it is going to last as they can be quite pricey. I think I may be in luck after trying on this beauty from Long Tall Sally, the biker-inspired jacket is £175, and is perfect in every way.
Not the best shot of me in the jacket, but one thing for sure is I am not going to have any problems with the sleeve length, and I can’t wait to wear for LFW.
I don’t know why I didn’t buy there and then, but no fear the lovely staff are holding one for me so I pick up my new leather jacket tomorrow!!
