Yesterday I was lucky enough to meet the very charming Jeff Banks at the launch of Debenhams Fashion on the Field at the Soho Hotel. I must admit I went mainly to see Jeff Banks, I was a huge fan of the original Clothes Show and meeting him wasn’t a disappointment.
What I love is how passionate Jeff Banks is still about fashion, how dashing he looked in his three-piece grey suit, and how sweet he was when he realised Horse magazine was in the house. Apparently since the Hugh Grant moment in Notting Hill he has wanted either Horse and Hound or Horse magazine to attend one of his launches, bless the lovely Tess from Horse as she was a little embarrassed by the attention.
Back to the launch, well it is taken from a concept made famous at The Melbourn Cup in Australia, and its the biggest partnership between racing and fashion the UK has ever seen, basically it is a style search for the best dressed racegoer at York Ebor this August. There are fabulous prizes to be won, including a £500 spending spree in Debenhams, photoshoot in London, custom-made Jimmy Choo couture heels, dinner at The Ivy with Jeff Banks, and even a fabulous holiday for two in St. Vincent.
Each day Jeff Banks will be joined by fellow creator milliner Yvette Jelfs, as well as guest judges including Lorraine’s Mark Heyes, and Designer at Debenhams designers Matthew Williamson, John Rocha and Ben de Lisi, and they will select three finalists and one winner that will go through to the grand final on August 20.
I have to admit I have never done Ladies Day at any racing meet but with prizes like this I think it gives everyone a boost to try something new. If you are going good luck and fingers crossed you are the most stylish dresser.
You can pre-register to take part via the Fashion on the Field website up until August 10. Plus if you are traveling from Manchester, Newcastle or Leeds the Debenhams stores are putting on VIP coaches to York to make a day of it, for more information click here.
