Last week I was invited to QVC’s British Jewellery Designer’s showcase at the amazing Soho Hotel, and I have to admit I wasn’t sure what to expect. I haven’t actually bought anything from QVC, and when I think of TV shopping I think of retractable mops or the weird and wonderful items that you don’t really need but want. Seriously, I couldn’t have been more wrong, the jewellery on display was just gorgeous.
Some cool facts about QVC to start us off, I am sharing as I was shocked: it is the largest TV shopping channel when it comes to jewellery; and it sells everything from costume to fine jewellery, from £10-£19,000, yep nearly £20k; so if like me you thought only people without money shopped at QVC you, like me would be so wrong!!!
QVC has been supporting British jewellery designers for a number of years, and last Thursday they showed off some of their current designers collections, and I fell in love with so many pieces, surprisingly most were rings, which I don’t wear after my fingers swelled on a trip to New York and I had to have them cut off. Maybe I need to give rings another shot.
My favourite collection had to be Lauren Adriana, I’m not just saying this because she was at the event, but I loved her attitude and how she is inspired by the glamour of the 1970′s, think big, bold and colourful and this features beautifully in her line for QVC.
As a trained gemologist it isn’t much of a surprise that her line out of all the designers features heavily with gorgeous eye-catching rocks!!! You name it Lauren has featured it: Blue Topaz, Black Diamond, Maderia Citrine, Smoky Quartz, Morganite, Fire Opal, and Pearls, each one exquisite and I especially love how she mixes them up, contrasting colours work perfectly in her line.
I adore this vibrant green Russian Diopside Dome ring in 9ct gold with bow detailing, £357.50, as well as the gorgeous 1.2ct Shades of Fire Opal and Citrine ring in 9ct gold, £203.
I don’t think my pictures are doing Lauren Adriana’s designs justice but they were all absolutely stunning. Out of all the collections on display I felt this one was the most glamorous, I could see it hitting the red carpet, and of course as I loved it was bound to be one of the more pricier ranges!!!
I am a huge fan of silver jewellery and as soon as I stepped into the library I was drawn to Ana De Costa’s ‘Lost and Found’ collection *top image* mainly due to this striking-yet-simple Key Pendant & Chain, £63. I do love key motifs, and this necklace was in my goody bag and I completely adore it. There was also this Lace ring and it is only currently £15.23, normally it is £17 – want!!!
Tomasz Donocik is a great talent and best known for his menswear lines especially when he worked for Stephen Webster, but his womenswear pieces for QVC are divine. Still featuring masculine designs, his pieces were inspired by architecture and literature and feature bright gemstones set in 9 carat gold. Think bold and innovative – these are statement jewels!!
My favourite piece has to be this 3.2ct Garnet, Russian Diopside & Agate Ring in 9ct Gold, £105.50, how amazing does this ring look – fierce!!
One of the most feminine collections came from jewellery designer Kimberley Selwood. I just loved her use of sterling silver, adding textures and patterns to each piece. My favourite item is this Drift Away Bangle, £107.01, it is more like a cuff but so pretty when it hits the light.
Once again another ring caught my eye, this cute Nectar Ring is only £24.25 – bargain price for such a beautiful design.
Spanish-born designer Arabel Lebrusan’s label Leblas was probably the most intricate in design, inspired by her Mediterranean roots each piece features a lot of filigree detailing. Fav piece was again a ring, 0.4ct Amethysy Filigree Round Ring 9ct Gold, £198.
SHO is the jewellery label from designer Sarah Ho, and I have been a fan for a while and can’t believe I didn’t know about her line for QVC. I love her use of geometric forms and architectural shapes and her rings are beyond amazing, can I please have them all!!!
L-R: CFW Pearl & Pink Sapphire Accent Ring 9ct Gold, £131; CFW Pearl, 0.3ct Sapphire & 0.1ct Diamond London Eye Ring 9ct Gold, £256; Twin Pearl & 0.2ct Diamond Ring 9ct Gold, £193; and CFW Pearl & MOP 0.1ct Diamond Ring 9ct Gold, £423.
Love this London Eye ring, I do love anything with pearls.
Joanna Dahdah’s collection is new to QVC and launches on August 20, and I loved the art-vibe of the pieces. I am sure that this will be a huge hit.
If you haven’t already checked out QVC on TV then you should as part of the tie-up each designer has to do a slot at selling their own designs. Kimberley Selwood is doing her slot today, June 14, and Ana de Costa is down to showcases her pieces on August 20. Trust me, tune in and snag a gorgeous piece of British jewellery.
QVC is available on: Freeview – channel 16; Sky – channel 640; Virgin – channel 740; and Freesat – channel 800.
