I don’t think many retailers could get the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Lady Gaga, and Victoria Beckham to design a t-shirt in aid of charity, well that is what Uniqlo have done for the SaveJapan initiative.
The 10 celebs and designers have collaborated with Uniqlo to raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross and the recovery efforts in north-eastern Japan, and I love all of their quirky designs.
My favourite two designs has to be the simple-yet-effective message from Victoria Beckham ‘Sending Love And Hope'; and the butterfly motif from Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively, with the message ‘just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly’.
Also involved with the project are Orlando Bloom, Cyndi Lauper, Charlize Theron, Alber Elbaz, Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow. The Fashion Unites For Japan tees go on sale globally on June 25, priced £12.99 each, and the initiative is expected to raise about 100 million yen, that is around £757,000.
Seriously great cause, great designs and an easy way to do your bit.
