LFW AW11: Jena.Theo – Valkarie

When I recieved the invite with the autumn/winter 2011 collection titled Valkyrie, I had an impression of female warriors in my head, well I wasn’t that far off!!

There was definitely an excitement in the air for the first show in the new On|Off venue, but it was also the amazing light show that greeted us when we were looking for the last few seats, it really did feel more like a rock concert than a fashion show. Completely up-my-street!

Jena.Theo duo Jenny Holmes *who is heavily pregnant and looking gorgeous* and Dimitris Theocharidis, were inspired by eighties fantasy movies, in particular Conan the Barbarian for their grungy-meets-21st Century warrior for their autumn/winter 2011 collection.

There was definitely an air of warrior princess about the models with their Zorro-like eye make-up. But the collection was more floaty than battle ready, with its gorgeous draped jersey and silk layered pieces. But for me it was all about the oversized knitwear.

For some there was too more theatricals and not enough fashion, but I loved the mix of the loud music, the dramatic make-up and the grungy styling. I really did think that a lot of the pieces were really wearable from the denim and the ruched leggings to the cashmere knits and layered options.

As you can see I didn’t have the best positioning for picture taking *blame rushing from the Maria Grachvogel show*, but I couldn’t resist including my favourite piece this gorgeous floaty dress from On|Off’s in-house photographer Geoff Pugh.
