The week-before-last *sorry got caught up in award season* I was invite to check out the new designers hitting Debenhams as part of their new designer-highstreet platform, Edition. I am a big supporter of designers pieces which are purse friendly, and this collection blows anything that H&M and Gap have brought out in my opinion, as Debenhams have hooked up with Preen, Jonathan Saunders (above) and Jonathan Kelsey, and coming later this year the wonderful Roksanda Ilincic. Also to add to the brilliance of the tie-ups, this isn’t just a one collection deal, these amazing designers have promised a minimum of four seasons each *yes I did just squeal*.
Oh and did I mention that nothing is over £190 – and that is for a Preen leather jacket – yep you read right, the collections start at £18. Crazy pricing!!
Wow, this collection was stunning, and tons of it as it consists of nearly 30 pieces, and best of all it is instantly recognisable as Jonathan Saunders – clean understated shapes, great use of colours *the aqua shade is fierce* and cool prints. In my opinion this collection is what stood out for me in the showroom. Full of soft greys, acid greens and whites, complemented perfectly with pleats, sequins and printed chiffon overlaid on georgette detailing. Simply yet stunning.
My highlight was this stunning drape front maxi dress, the colour gorgeous, the cut so flattering, and OMG the price is amazing as it is only £50. I am sure I won’t be the only one purchasing this, I am already deciding where I will show it off!!
I also love the pleated hem mac, £99 (top image), the colour block dress with lime green panel, £65, reminds me of a sexy tennis dress, and the flora print maxi dress, £85 – I would have love to have seen this on a model I bet the movement would have been amazing. There is also a dip dye top that I have to bye which is only £32 – seriously great value.
Another amazing collaboration, which captures the label’s signature cool sophistication perfectly, in a gorgeous colour palette of neutral shades accented with fiery red and electric blue. I can totally see this collection being worn by celebrities at press junkets and photo-calls – seriously stylish.
Main Preen pic: nude frilly blouse is only £40, and the frill sleeve swing top, £35, and the zip detail skirt is a staggering £42.
Lots of work pieces in this collection, with its modern separates, it is definitely going to become a staple in my wardrobe. I love all the frill sleeves, frill hems, zips, lace trims, and pleats this collection for me is all about the detailing. My favourite piece had to be this gorgeous electric blue jersey belted dress (below), not only did it feel so soft *yes I felt it up*, but it is once again only £50, and that is with the belt – I checked!
The other two pieces I adored, were the most expensive piece out of all the collections the tassle crop leather jacket, with its cute lining is £190, and the sexy frill back maxi dress, reasonably priced at £60 – want!!
Rounding the collections off nicely is Debenhams first footwear specialist, the talented Jonathan Kelsey, who has designed a sleek line of shoes and handbags. The range is an empowering mix of high voltage glamour and equestrian heritage, the buckles and rivets are so hot and I loved it.
My favourite pieces had to be these peep toe shoe boots, £65 and this perfectly sized canvas satchel, £50, just think you can’t have one with out the other can you – they are a great match.
All the pieces are available from February 14 – is it wrong that I want to book the day off to shop?
