When these pics dropped into my inbox I just had to share – as Ken has been given a style makeover courtesy of Esquire magazine. In the picture above Ken is sporting Burberry Prorsum, barley cotton canvas overcoat, grey cotton utility shirt, black wool pants and black leather boots – what a hunk – this is a good way to make Barbie jealous!
With Ken making his big screen debut in Toy Story 3 this month, Esquire’s fashion team headed up by Fashion Director, Catherine Hayward, came up with this fabulous idea. I love it, Barbie always gets the spotlight and now her ex-boyfriend is getting his camera time – do you reckon she will change her mind and take him back after these shots?
The six-page shoot is in the August issue of Esquire, out now, and Ken is wearing key pieces from autumn/winter 2010, including Burberry, Prada, Gucci and Paul Smith. It is so cool that they got these designers to take part. Now I wonder if we will get a limited-edition designer Ken.
Who: Gorgeous Ken
Wearing: Gucci head-to-toe, a cream suede trench coat, grey cashmere turtle-neck sweater, white wool slim pants, dark brown calf-length boots, tortoiseshell aviators and my favourite item a beige weekend bag.
Verdict: Country winter chic at its very best and I love his weekend bag and I am sure that Barbie will be most jealous of this item
Barbie in Prada: pink gabardine camo coat, brown leather heels, and a burgundy/brown leather handbag *I want this Barbie*
Esquire’s Editor-in-Chief, Jeremy Langmead says: “It was great to work with such a style icon as Ken. If you thought the metrosexual was dead, Ken proves otherwise. There were no tantrums, although he did spend a little longer in hair and make-up than is usual.”
I can’t wait to check out the full Ken Fashion Icon photo shoot in the August issue of Esquire – I looked tonight on my way home and the newsagent didn’t have. Check out how sexy Katy Perry looks on the cover – those shoes are so pretty and those Mark Fast knickers are amazing.
